Urban Jungle comes to St Petersburg: planning a visit to the plant festival

What the announcement includes

The programme lists a plant market, a plant swap, talks and workshops. Plan your arrival around the session you want to attend. Do not assume that an admission ticket confirms a place at every talk: the organiser’s website provides separate registration for talks and workshops.

Before setting out

• Open the current festival page and check the date, visiting hours, ticket and registration for your chosen activity.

• Save the address and the UKT venue name. If driving, check current parking arrangements and the walk from the car park to the entrance.

• If you plan to buy plants, think about the return journey. Carrying several pots to a distant parking space may be awkward; do not rely on stopping directly outside the entrance.

Getting purchases home

Bring a stable box or container and ask the seller to recommend suitable packaging for the particular plant. Protect the car interior from damp soil and water, and secure purchases so they cannot topple during braking or obstruct the driver.

When adding other stops, consider where the plants will be kept. Avoid leaving them for long in a cooling parked car, and ask the seller for transport advice. Planning the order of your day is easier than finding room for bulky purchases afterwards.
